Your First Wholesale Order

A step-by-step walkthrough from creating your account to placing your first order on WholesaleUp™. Covers account setup, finding deals, evaluating suppliers, and negotiating with confidence.

Step 1.Create your free account

Head to the registration page and sign up with your email, or use Google, Apple, or Facebook sign-in. The free tier registration creates a buyer account and takes under two minutes — it gives you immediate access to browse all deals and suppliers.

Tip: Complete your Buyer Profile early — suppliers respond faster when they can see your business type, location, and product interests.

Step 2.Browse deals and suppliers

WholesaleUp™ offers two main ways to find products. The Deals page shows individual product listings with prices, MOQs, and profit margins. The Suppliers page lets you browse verified suppliers by category, country, and business type.

Every deal card shows the wholesale price, recommended retail price (RRP), and calculated markup/margin so you can instantly assess profitability.

Quick tips for success

Start with a small test order to verify quality before committing to larger volumes. Complete your Buyer Profile to build trust with suppliers. Use the Enquiry List to batch enquiries across multiple deals. And if you need help finding specific products, Premium+ members can use the Custom Sourcing service where our team finds suppliers for you.

Step 3.Use filters to narrow your search

Both the Deals and Suppliers pages have powerful filtering options. Filter by category (13 product categories with 100+ subcategories), price range, minimum order quantity, country of origin, product grade (New, Refurbished, Liquidation), and supplier type (Wholesaler, Liquidator, Manufacturer, Dropshipper).

Sort results by price, newest listings, markup percentage, or profit margin to find what matters most to your business.

Step 4.Save deals and suppliers to favorites

Found something promising? Click the heart icon to save any deal or supplier to your Favorites. You can also save entire categories and keyword searches to get notified when new matching deals are listed. This keeps your sourcing organized as you explore.

Step 5.Evaluate the supplier

Before sending an enquiry, check the supplier’s profile for verification status, years in business, product categories, and reviews from other buyers. Look for the green “Verified Supplier” badge — it means they’ve passed WholesaleUp™’s pre-listing checks.

Read our full guide: How to Evaluate a Supplier for a detailed checklist.

Step 6.Send an enquiry

Click “Send Enquiry” on any deal or supplier profile. A side panel opens where you can write your message, specify order requirements, and attach up to 5 files (10 MB each).

Free accounts can contact Supplier Pro members. Standard members can enquire on all deal listings. Premium and Premium+ members get full direct contact access to every supplier.

Tip: Use the Enquiry List to batch multiple deals from the same supplier into a single enquiry.

Step 7.Have your business credentials ready

Most suppliers ask for proof you’re a registered business before quoting wholesale prices. Have these three documents to hand before your first enquiry:

  • Company registration number — Companies House number (UK), VAT-country filing (EU), Secretary of State entity number (US), etc.
  • Tax ID — VAT / GST / EIN / ABN depending on your jurisdiction. Required for compliant B2B invoicing and reverse-charge or zero-rated treatment.
  • Resale certificate (US only) — state-issued document that exempts the wholesale purchase from sales tax. UK/EU don’t use these — VAT reverse-charge handles the same concept.

Having this paperwork ready turns a 2–3 week first-order delay into a 2–3 day one. For the full region-by-region walkthrough, see Tax IDs and Resale Certificates for Wholesale Buyers.

Step 8.Order a sample before bulk

For any first trade with a new supplier, and for any order above a few thousand euros, request a sample first. It confirms physical quality, tests the supplier’s operational reliability, and gives you a reference unit to compare the bulk shipment against if anything feels off later.

Rule of thumb: a supplier that refuses to sample at any price is one you walk away from. Our dedicated walkthrough covers how to request cleanly, what to test, and the red flags to watch: see Ordering Wholesale Samples.

Step 9.Negotiate terms

Once the supplier responds, negotiate pricing, MOQs, payment terms, and delivery timelines directly. WholesaleUp™ uses a zero-commission model — all transactions happen between you and the supplier with no platform fees. Use the messaging system to keep all communication in one place.

Step 10.Place your order

After agreeing on terms, place your order directly with the supplier using their preferred payment method. Confirm delivery timelines, shipping method, and any import/customs requirements. For your first order, consider starting with a smaller test order to verify product quality and supplier reliability before committing to larger volumes.

What to expect on shipping timing: a supplier’s “ships in 3–5 days” is usually the dispatch date, not the delivery date. Total door-to-door is dispatch + transit + customs + last mile. For a full breakdown by mode (road, air, sea, rail) and how to track each stage, see Wholesale Shipping Times and Tracking.

Step 11.Debrief and repeat

After receiving your order, note how the deal performed against its per-deal Review tab (Standard+) and how the supplier performed against their supplier-wide Review tab (Premium+). If the order went well, save the supplier to your favorites for easy reordering. Build relationships with reliable suppliers — repeat buyers often negotiate better terms over time. Member-submitted reviews are planned for a future release; for now, if something goes wrong you can report the issue.
